How do I copy google images to my computer desktop? I used to be able to do that, but now when i right click, there is no option that says "apply as background". Please help.

Does anybody know of a good desktop computer for imaging programs? I'm purchasing a desktop computer in a month or so, but the websites are being very vague about explaining what terms mean or how they relate to the preformance of the computer. What I need is a good desktop computer that can effectively browse the internet, process text, and run imaging programs, like photoshop and Macromedia Flash MX. I don't play a lot of PC video games, so a super graphics card is not needed, just one that will support a fair amount of cartooning/image editing. I also do a lot of web design, but all I use for that is notepad and Firefox, and those are not hard to run on the computer I have now (which is fairly low-end) The most important aspects are that it runs well with image programs, microsoft office (no mac/linux-related suggestions, please), and various internet browsers.

Tudor replied: "Easy to choose, mainly Photoshop is the one that determine what specs you need. Go for something dual-core, 2GB of memory, 250GB+ hard drive, and a 19" screen, I would advice you on XP rather than Vista."

uolocowizard replied: "I would have to recommend Dell here. With their solid build quality, great pricing and nice wide screen monitors for the best price/performance ratio anywhere it is a strong choice. I would look at a system with at least a 2.0ghz core 2 duo [dual core, great for rendering and processing effects] 2gb memory. you will be happy to have this. vista and anything else for a long time will just hum away big hard drive, 300gb+ , not expensive as you would thing. monitor: dell 2400fpw, i have one, awesome monitor.. just spectacular resolution and detail along with oogles of screen realstate. video: dedicated, not onboard, nvidia most likely."

Rudy replied: "if you use photoshop get a pc with plenty of memory. Id reccomend at least a gig of ram and probably 2. A lower end graphics card would be fine with you. The newer dual core processors are great for multi tasking. Pretty much any mid level pc (500-1000) that you find right now would be great for you. The lower end pc's (under 500) would be ok if you got some extra ram. Id reccomend a pc express expansion slot in case you decide to upgrade later to a video card."

How come my computer desktop icons have a black box around the words??? I was messing around with my computer wallpaper and some pics, I think some how i set as some desktop image or sonething. It doesn't show up on the desktop, but the black around the icons is annoying, please Help. How can I make it so there is no color, instead of the choice of color???

kaatt replied: "Windows will render a filled color box around the text underneath icons on the desktop that matches the background color setting of the desktop. You need to change the background color of your desktop, if you are using an image as a background it is likely that behind the image Windows is rendering a black background hence the black boxes around your text on the icons. Reset the background color to something similar to the image you are using and it won't be as noticable."

computer_surplus2005 replied: "Katt knows nothing about the desktop or how a OS works. Your icons have been locked to desktop. Right click anywhere on the desktop and go to arrange by and click lock to desktop and the boxes will disappear. Now you can change the color and size of fonts/icons or anything else you want to with the same options. Right click anywhere on desktop and goto properties then apperance and then advanced and you should be able to scroll through the box and change what ever you want to to color and size. Thanks"

computer wont let me delete images from the desktop? every time i try to delete, or even move, on of the images saved on my desktop, it tells me its being used by another program. how can i get rid of it?

Whenever I change the Desktop image, my computer goes slow!? Hi, So whenever I change my desktop image I have serious problems with my computer. I have resorted to sticking to the standard Windows Desktop, now I'm bored of it. When I do change my desktop I encounter the following problems: Extreme slowness I can't log in. Freeze on start-up. Programs run even slower. And general irritation! I would like to know what is the cause of the this problem; it was fine up until a year ago until I changed the background to a photograph then it all went wrong. Please help! Samie.

Stone Deft replied: "have you tried other backgrounds and still got thesame results? If so then you are running out of resources like memory or hard drive space, Try uninstalling un needed programs and deleting unneeded files. If you still have the same problem then it couild be a registry error, try downloading a registry checker tool. gud luck"

I can't change my computer desktop's background image.? My computer desktop image is locked somehow and I can't figure out how to unlock it. If I right click on a picture of mine and click save to background, it does nothing. If I right click on an online image, the 'save as background' option is grayed out and nonselectable (when it otherwise wouldn't be). When I go to control panel/ display in the start menu, where the drop menu to pick an image should be, there is a code ending with Graphics Controller. What can I do, or how can I unlock my desktop? The image is the only thing that seems to be affected. Thank you!

rkrkrameshrk replied: "GO TO START RUN Type gpedit.msc press ok in window that opens on leftside under user configuration Administative tools expand (+) Desktop click on Active desktop on right hand side double click Active desktop wallpaper click not configured press ok restart computer."

Richard J replied: "Right click anywhere on your desktop Click properties Click desktop tab Click browse and change the back ground to what ever you want. Highlight it and click apply. That will now be your new background"

How would I know if my desktop computer is capable of data transfer using INFRARED ? I have installed a Bluetooth USB adapter so that I can transfer images from a camera phone to my desktop computer. How can my computer have the capability to received images using infrared ? Thank you. Thank you for your response. My friend has a Nokia 7360 mobile phone. This phone has no bluetooth functionality - only infrared. She wants me to print images from her mobile phone using my photo printer.

Antil0ck replied: "you need to have a Ifrared device installed. If you do not then you will need to buy one. Most PC's do not come with Infrared. Cheers! Antil0ck"

zeven77 replied: "if you have installed a bluetooth device, then your computer is capable of transferring files thru bluetooth. just install the bluetooth program that accompanied the device and access it. open up the bluetooth on your phone and let your pc find it. enter the same passkey for both pc and phone so you can pair them. after that, you can now send the files. infrared is a totally different interface and usually rely on direct line of reception. unlike bluetooth that has a radius of reception."

Jeanie replied: "u should click start-controll panel-click system--click device manager-see the info about infrared there.... Then, if u cant find it, it means ur PC is not able to do connectivity with infrared... as long as i know, if u want to connect with infrared, u should buy optional hardware... named Infrared connectivity. actually, i never see the PC which is able to do infrared data transfer.... even laptops dont use infrared, they use bluetooth... why? because the connectivity is so easy, it can be run with long distance, about 10 m from bluetooth source. contrary, infrared, u must keep the device near the infrared source to do data transfer."

carm replied: "Hi Great Days, yes you can do that, you have to activate the infrared on the computer and your phone, then use the phone suite program for your phone and you can set it up from there, hope this helped you Great Days and good luck."

Where can i find an image of the internal hardware components of a desktop computer? It would be preferable if this was a diagram or annotated picture. Its for a course I'm doing and as i only have a laptop, I need the image of a desktops internal hardware to complete the project. Does anyone know where I can find a good picture?

Brettley replied: "images.google.com Just type in what specifically you are looking for."
